A blind man in Chicago had his service dog stolen from him by a group of robbers who invaded his yard. He’s been walking the streets for months, pleading for help to find his beloved pet.
Angel Santiago’s dog has been missing for two months at the time of writing, but he’s still walking the streets, putting up flyers, and trying to find Bam Bam, a 14 year-old dachshund mix.
Santiago has been offered financial assistance and a GoFundMe to help with efforts to recover Bam Bam, but he’s declined all of them. He just wants his dog back.
Despite all that, his months of searching have been noticed, and progress has been made on trying to track Bam Bam down.
Bam Bam still missing after months
According to Fox 32 Chicago, Santiago’s been putting up flyers and standing outside for months asking for help finding his dog. He’s built up a squad of volunteers who are on the search, but nothing has come of it just yet.
The man is also putting up a $1000 reward for Bam Bam’s safe return, with PETA putting up an additional $5000 of their own and demanding the arrest of those responsible.
“Bam Bam means the world to me and I feel my body draining away. I can only do so much,” Santiago pleaded.
“I promised that I will keep walking and walking, yelling his name out. But if you could just help me with your own eyes and see if you could spot him for me. Let your eyes be mine and look out for Bam Bam for me please. I beg of you to help me.”
Despite how long Bam Bam has been gone, Santiago is determined to find him. He’s microchipped, meaning that narrowing down the search is possible and that not all hope is lost.
