Perhaps taking a cue from Xzibit’s Pimp My Ride, IKEA has announced it is opening mini stores within select Best Buy locations, with the idea that you can work with an IKEA rep to redesign your kitchen or laundry room after purchasing home appliances.
“By bringing together our home furnishing expertise, products, and services with Best Buy’s leadership in appliances and technology, we’re creating a one-stop destination where customers can design their dream kitchen, storage solutions, or laundry space with ease,” Rob Olson, IKEA US chief operation officer, said in a press release. “It’s a great step on our journey to helping people create beautiful, functional homes at a price they can afford.”
These 1,000-square-foot IKEA mini retail experiences will launch in 10 Best Buy stores throughout Florida and Texas later this year, including locations in Daytona Beach, South Austin, and Lakeland.
After ceasing DVD and Blu-ray sales in 2024, this partnership is certainly one way for Best Buy to fill empty floor space.
