Margo Price has released the latest preview of her forthcoming album, Hard Headed Woman, due out on August 29. The single, “Losing Streak,” serves as a time capsule, scrolling like an itemized list of the experiences that pixelate Price’s initial arrival in Nashville, a place she has now called home for two decades. Tapping into her signature outlaw spirit, the songstress reminds listeners that our struggles don’t define us, but rather, they make us who we are. Price’s message of resilience pours out over four minutes and can be streamed below.

“Losing Streak” finds Price brushing up against tales from her Music City start, sleeping in the backseat of her ‘91 Ford Explorer after painting the town red, with just a handful of half-baked tunes to account for her move. Along the way, she acknowledges the mental hardships and feelings of yearning for home. Despite the challenges, Price’s message of defiance is attributed to her outlaw sensibility, a characteristic that far surpasses rhetoric and has become an integral part of her being.

“Losing Streak’ tells the story of my early years coming up in Nashville. It is a coming-of-age story inspired by struggle, substances, and the search for the perfect song. It was co-written with my husband and songwriting partner, Jeremy Ivey,” Price commented via press release.

Price’s impending full-length release represents a return to form after working with producer Matt Ross-Sprang, who assisted on her 2016 debut, Midwest Farmer’s Daughter, and sophomore follow-up, 2017’s All American Made. Hard Headed Woman is the musician’s first album made in Nashville, striking hometown spirit into the set while recording at the famed RCA Studios A.

“Losing Streak” serves as the set’s third single release, and follows the Jesse Welles-featured “Don’t Wake Me Up,” presented alongside a Dylan-inspired “Subterranean Homesick Blues” music video, and the musician’s nod to the late Kris Kristofferson, “Don’t Let The Bastards Get You Down.”
