Let’s get real, going to a great concert in New York City these days often means dropping $100+ on tickets, fees, food, and transportation. So when an opportunity like this rolls around, a full day of powerful, talented Latina performances for FREE, right in the heart of the city, you don’t take it for granted and you add it to your weekend plans.
This Saturday, August 9th, Ruidosa Fest, the first women-led music festival in Latin America, returns to New York for its second year in partnership with Summer for the City. It’s the perfect day out, filled with everything from mariachi and hip-hop to dream pop and cumbia, each performance a vibrant reflection of a different corner of our Latin American continent.
“The idea behind Ruidosa is to promote and celebrate female and female identifying Latinx artists, and also the stories behind those voices in the music industry itself.”
A Festival with a Mission
For Francisca Valenzuela, Chilean artist and Ruidosa founder, this isn’t just a lineup, it’s a statement. She shared with ¡HOLA! her excitement about the festival coming back to the city and the legendary Lincoln Centre. “This is a celebration of Latinx and Latin female identifying artists. It’ll be an opportunity to discover new artists and celebrate the voices of Latin artists, each with their own authentic points of view, music, and style.”
As Valenzuela points out, the day’s energy extends beyond the stage. “The event not only has live music, but we’re also hosting a panel conversation talking about how we can promote diversity and speak about the Latinx experience in the music industry. The panel is called ‘Who Holds the Mic, Who Holds the Power.’ “
“We have artists from Mexico, Puerto Rico, Colombia, República Dominicana, Chile, each one representing a different music style and identity. That’s also really important to the U.S. edition of Ruidosa Fest, to speak to different Latin experiences and voices.”
For Valenzuela, the impact of Ruidosa is as much about transformation as it is about performance. As an artist, activist, and organizer, she’s focused on building something lasting, and inclusive. “Coming from Chile, I’m thinking about how we can create a new paradigm of music leadership, a new paradigm of the music industry and create the music industry that we want, one that’s more diverse, more equitable, more sustainable. It’s really exciting to have the opportunity to create this hand in hand with Lincoln Center in New York.”
Latina Voices you don’t want to miss
This year’s lineup is as varied as it is visionary, with artists bringing their own histories, sounds, and dreams to the stage. Two of them shared with ¡HOLA! what this moment means to them.
For Mexican singer Camila Fernández, that means turning Lincoln Center into a mariachi celebration. “It means the world to represent where I come from and the music that raised me. I’m proud and grateful to bring my mariachi to the Big Apple. Sharing the stage with such an incredible lineup of Latina women is empowering, not just for me, but for future generations. I know this will be a core memory for everyone who joins us.”
“I can’t wait to enjoy every moment and turn this into a true mariachi fiesta, sharing my art and heart with all of NYC.”
For Dominican rapper J Noa, it’s about solidarity and lifting each other higher. “It feels incredible to be part of a festival dedicated exclusively to women. Having these spaces in the industry is essential for us to share the stage and lift each other up.”
The lineup includes:
- MC Millaray (Chile): A rising Mapuche hip-hop voice blending fierce lyricism with cultural pride.
- Camila Fernández (Mexico): A radiant force redefining modern mariachi with deep roots and bold personality.
- Sofía Rei (Argentina): A genre-defying artist weaving jazz, folklore, and experimental sounds.
- YEИDRY (Italy/Dominican Republic): A soulful vocalist merging global pop, R&B, and Caribbean rhythms.
- PAMÉ (Dominican Republic/USA): Smooth, genre-blending soul with heartfelt storytelling.
- J Noa (Dominican Republic): A teenage prodigy delivering razor-sharp, fearless rhymes.
- Empress Of (Honduras/USA): Visionary dream-pop artist crafting daring, intimate sonic worlds.

- DJ Tayhana (Argentina): A trailblazing Latin club DJ bringing heat to the Silent Disco.
More than a Concert
Along with live performances, Ruidosa includes the thought-provoking panel “Who Holds the Mic, Who Holds the Power?” at 3:00 pm, a candid discussion on inclusivity, representation, and the realities of the music industry for Latina and Latinx women.
And when the main stage wraps, the night is far from over. The event will also host a Silent Disco, featuring DJ Tayhana, who will light up Lincoln Center’s Dance Floor under the stars with an electrifying mix of Afro-Caribbean beats, reggaeton, cumbia, and house.
