Actor Dave Franco, who bears a striking resemblance to Luigi Mangione, has detailed the conditions in which he’d be willing to play the divisive figure. Mangione is currently in prison and awaiting trial for allegedly killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

While out on the promotional trail for his new horror movie Together, Dave Franco was asked by an audience member in the crowd of Watch What Happens Live if he would be willing to play the 27 year old, who is facing charges of first-degree murder,[a] murder in furtherance of terrorism, criminal possession of a weapon, and stalking, with federal prosecutors reportedly seeking the death penalty.

Rolling Stone previously described Mangione as the “most debated and polarizing murder suspect in recent history,” as he’s become a cult hero to his supporters and has become the face of negative opinions of the country’s health insurance industry, particularly its practice of denying claims.

Dave Franco says he would be open to playing Luigi Mangione if the right people were involved in the project

“Oh, how do I answer this?” Franco replied to a fan’s question on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. “No one has approached me about it yet, I’ll say that. This is something that more people in my life reached out about this exact thing than anything else that has ever happened.”

“Let’s just say I’m open if the right people and let’s just leave it at that.”

Franco was most recently seen starring alongside his wife Alison Brie in the excellently reviewed body horror film Together, which has an 89% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes.

In the fall, he’ll also be reprising his role as Jack Wilder in Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, the third film in the franchise, alongside Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Morgan Freeman, Justice Smith, Dominic Sessa, Ariana Greenblatt, Rosamund Pike, and Mark Ruffalo.
