Mariah Carey Just Found Out Katy Perry Went to Space

Mariah Carey famously operates in her own orbit, so it’s hardly shocking that she only recently learned about Katy Perry’s brief flight into space.

Despite the widespread coverage of Perry’s 11-minute sub-orbital mission aboard Blue Origin, Carey seemed stupefied when asked in a BBC interview if she’d ever like to follow in Katy’s lead.

“Did she go to space? Where did she go?” Carey responded, before being informed of more details. “She’s like floating in the… and this is true? Wow. All right, Katy… I’m not mad at her, that’s pretty amazing.”

When Breakfast Show host Scott Mills repeated his question about whether she would like to go to space, Carey answered, “I think I’ve done enough” with a hilarious deadpan and huge smile.

Following Perry’s Blue Origin flight in April, she was widely mocked for reportedly singing Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World” while in space and then claiming it was an opportunity for the country to “see the unity that we modeled and replicate that.”

In fact, the backlash was so intense that Perry felt compelled to address it in a lengthy Instagram comment, calling out her “unhinged and unhealed” haters.

All of that noise apparently never made it to Mariah Carey. It’s a safe guess she didn’t hear about Perry’s tumultuous summer, which has involved a breakup from ex-fiancé Orlando Bloom and her recent dinner date with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
