A REMAKE of a classic sci-fi movie has been hit with a dismal Rotten Tomatoes score despite an A-list cast.
A new version of War of the Worlds has hit screens but it has less than impressed fans watching at home.
The movie, starring Eva Longoria and Ice Cube, has made its debut on Amazon Prime Video but has instantly been met by backlash.
Despite reaching the top three of Prime Video’s daily streaming charts, it seems many viewers wish they hadn’t have bothered at all with dismal reviews and fan comments.
Having been available to watch for just over a week, it has now returned the all-time worst score on film review site Rotten Tomatoes with 0%.
The site which is used to indicate how favourable a movie is received rarely dishes out a zero per-cent score.
It indicated wholly negative reviews and is intended as a suggestion to not watch the movie.
Other audience review sites have also rated the flick poorly with one returning a score of an abysmal 13%.
Some fans also felt as though it was one long commercial for Amazon branded or owned products, something leading publisher Variety agreed with.
Writing online having watched the movie, one viewer said: “I am traumatised. Not because of how graphic it is, but how awful it is.
“It feels like a 10 year old had a fever dream and decided to write the story at the top of their head.”
Another added: “The butchered one of the greatest sci-fi stories mankind has ever told. Just horrible. Bad writing.”
As a third shared: “This movie could either be considered a glorified Amazon Ad or a really, really, really bad movie.”
War of the Worlds is largely best known for its 2005 edition with Tom Cruise which fares much better with a 76% critical review score.
The projects were both based on the 1898 novel by H.G. Wells.
