My Heart Is Heavy with Sadness and Sorrow

"My Heart Is Heavy with Sadness and Sorrow"

Jack Osbourne has offered his first public statement since the passing of his father, Ozzy Osbourne, on July 22nd. Along with a tribute video, Jack has shared a written message, saying, “My heart is heavy with sadness and sorrow, but also full of love and gratitude.”

On his YouTube channel, Jack posted a video titled “Some Memories of My Father,” a montage of the two of them throughout the years set to Ozzy’s solo song, “So Tired.”

In the YouTube description, Jack wrote the following:

“I haven’t really wanted to post anything since the passing of my father. My heart has hurt too much. I’ll keep this short because he hated long, rambling speeches.

He was so many things to so many people, but I was lucky and blessed to be part of a very small group who got to call him ‘Dad.’ My heart is heavy with sadness and sorrow, but also full of love and gratitude. I got 14,501 days with that man, and I know what a blessing that is.

I think this quote best describes him:

Hunter S. Thompson once said:

‘Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body… but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, “Wow! What a ride!”‘

That was my dad. He lived — and he lived fully.

I love you Dad.”

Jack’s statement comes a couple days after his sister Kelly Osbourne shared her own message to fans, stating, in part, “Grief is a strange thing — it sneaks up on you in waves — I will not be ok for a while — but knowing my family are not alone in our pain makes a difference.”

Ozzy Osbourne passed away on July 22nd at the age of 76. His cause of death was listed as a heart attack with coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease listed as contributing factors.

At a public funeral procession last week, the Osbourne family stepped out of their vehicles to greet the thousands of fans who lined the streets of Birmingham. A private funeral service took place the following day at the Osbournes’ estate in Buckinghamshire, England.
