Colombian superstar Juanes has released “Cuando Estamos Tú Y Yo” (When It’s You and Me), the second single from his upcoming twelfth studio album. The track follows “Una Noche Contigo,” which has reached the Top 20 of Latin Pop Airplay charts following its release in late April.
“Cuando Estamos Tú Y Yo” focuses on love at first sight—Juanes described the track as part of a creative cycle examining how love serves as a driving force in life, sharing: “I was inspired by the way the Beatles used to start composing their songs with the chorus and the song title in the first verse.” He wrote the song with Colombian production trio Majestik, consisting of Ily Wonder and Los Jaycobz, completing the track in four hours.
Juanes premiered “Cuando estamos tú y yo” during his recent performance at the Hollywood Bowl on July 16, part of a limited series of summer shows that also includes venues in Washington and Chicago.
The song also arrives alongside an official music video, directed by Colombian-American filmmaker STILLZ. STILLZ has previously directed videos for Bad Bunny and Rosalía, and won a Cannes Lion award for his work. The single’s cover art was drawn by Juanes himself, continuing a creative direction he developed with collaborators Sebastián Londoño and Juan Camilo Londoño
A 29-time Grammy and Latin Grammy winner, Juanes has been performing for over 30 years. With more than 15 million career records sold worldwide, he is one of the most commercially-successful Latin music artists of all time. Outside of music, he also leads the NGO Fundacion Mi Sangre, which works to provide aid to Colombian victims of anti-personnel mines. He released an autobiography, Chasing The Sun, in 2013.
