Airbnb hosts don’t exactly have the best reputation. Between extra fees for basics, sudden price hikes, and requests to clean after paying a hefty cleaning charge, guests often share their horror stories online.
The platform has also been blamed for its impact on housing markets.
When homeowners convert their properties into short-term rentals, it can reduce the number of long-term options available for locals, drive up rents, and stretch the budgets of lower-income families.
The lucrative short-term market also attracts investors looking to cash in on Airbnb demand, which can lead to bidding wars and, eventually, push long-time residents out of their neighborhoods, leaving only wealthier populations behind.
But while many hosts are known for being overly particular, TikTok user @emalille says she found one whose love for a certain household tool reached a whole new level.
This One Host Really Loves Her Label Maker
In a viral TikTok with 1.4 million views, @emalille and her partner walk through the Michigan Airbnb they booked, reading aloud the dozens of labels the host had placed throughout the home.
“POV, your Airbnb host REALLY likes her label maker,” she wrote in the video’s text overlay.
Next to a large painting of a wolf? “Please do not touch.”
On a shelving unit: “Danger,” “Do not climb,” and “Do not pull.”
A box of towels? “These are sold by the honor system—$10 per towel.”
On the printer: “Please only print what you need.”
On a broken light switch: “Dud.”
She pans to the bunk bed: “No more than 150 pounds on the top bunk and no jumping on the beds.”
On a locked china cabinet: “Do not open. Do not open. Don’t open these either.”
On the washing machine: “No bleach. Use Dawn or baking soda.”
Above a kitchen cabinet: “Gently open to avoid hitting the knob on the counter.”
On a window: “Do not climb through window. Emergency exit only.”
On Everything
Even the furniture wasn’t spared: “Please be gentle” on a couch chair and “Please do not pull on the flowers” next to a display of fake blooms.
An antique wall phone? “Please gently put the phone on cradle”—labeled twice.
On a vase: “Please do not move.”
On a drink station cabinet: “Please don’t close this door… or this door.”
And by the thermostat: “Please do not set the thermostat any lower than 68 degrees or any higher than 72.”
Then there was the plastic-covered kitchen table, which her partner jokingly called the “Dexter kill sheet.”
Other labels warned, “Adults only. Use at your own risk” on the sauna and “Use a cutting board. Please do not cut directly on the countertop”—a message repeated on four separate counters.
“I wish I was kidding when I say this was not even half of them,” @emalille wrote in the caption.
Commenters Can’t Believe It
In the comments, viewers were both entertained and baffled.
“Does she know it’s not mandatory to list your property on Airbnb???” one user asked.
“This woman is either insane or severely traumatized by previous guests,” another said.
One commenter even claimed, “We stayed here and I counted 163 labels.”
“I bet she labeled the label maker,” someone else joked.
And one summed up the sentiment with, “This was a great ad for hotels.”
