Asheville-based emo quartet Kerosene Heights has shared their latest single ‘Forget It,’ the second track previewed from their upcoming sophomore album Blame It On The Weather. Set for release on August 15th via SideOneDummy, the album represents a significant step forward for the band, who have been steadily building momentum since their 2023 debut Southeast Of Somewhere.
The new single showcases the band’s evolution into a tighter, more collaborative unit following the addition of drummer Benji Bennis. ‘Forget It’ highlights their ability to blend noodly emo-punk with raw emotional honesty, a combination that has earned them comparisons to Joyce Manor and Glocca Morra.
The track addresses the universal struggle of miscommunication during emotional moments, a theme that resonates throughout the album’s exploration of life’s ever-changing state. The band’s hometown of Asheville was significantly impacted by Hurricane Helene, and these experiences of sudden change and transition have deeply influenced the album’s thematic content.
Singer/guitarist Chance Smith says of the single:
“‘Forget it is about the struggle to communicate my feelings when I’m upset. The feeling of everything you’re saying coming out wrong even though your intentions are good. Getting too caught up in your emotions and the moment to get your point across accidentally starting arguments.”
‘Forget It’ is out now. Blame It On The Weather will be available August 15th via SideOneDummy Records.
