Linda Yaccarino has stepped down as the CEO of X/Twitter after running the site for two years following Elon Musk’s purchase of the platform and MrBeast is looking for the job.
Elon Musk bought Twitter back in October 2022, and soon after, appointed Linda as CEO of the microblogging platform.
Yaccarino has run the site ever since, and has been a major part of the rebrand from Twitter to X, as well as various other feature launches.
On Wednesday, July 9, Linda revealed she has left her role as CEO and the world’s most-subscribed YouTuber is looking for her job.
Linda Yaccarino steps down from X CEO role
“After two incredible years, I’ve decided to step down as CEO of X,” she said. “When Elon Musk and I first spoke of his vision for X, I knew it would be the opportunity of a lifetime to carry out the extraordinary mission of this company.
“I’m immensely grateful to him for entrusting me with the responsibility of protecting free speech, turning the company around, and transforming X into the Everything App. I’m incredibly proud of the X team – the historic business turn around we have accomplished together has been nothing short of remarkable.”
The former CEO went on to explain that they focused on user safety shortly after she joined, and has since been a part of features like Community Notes and the soon-to-release X Money.
She added: “I’ll be cheering you all on as you continue to change the world.”
MrBeast wants to become X’s new CEO
In response to a post about Yaccarino’s departure, Jimmy ‘MrBeast‘ Donaldson chimed in, saying how he wanted to take the position.
“I’ll fill the roll,” he replied.
This isn’t the first time MrBeast has inquired about the X CEO position, either. In 2022, the YouTuber asked if he could become the new Twitter CEO and even received a response from Elon Musk.
“It’s not out of the question,” the world’s richest man replied. Though it’s not clear if his attitudes towards the YouTuber have changed in the years since.
So far, no replacement has been announced, but it’s clear that Donaldson has his eyes set on expanding his content empire.
