A fan-made Superman trailer edited in the style of the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 trailer is somehow the best piece of marketing material put out for the film by far. Superman, directed by James Gunn, will be released in theaters in the United States on Friday, July 11.
Whatever Warner Bros. is doing to market James Gunn’s Superman is obviously working, as the first film in the DCU is currently tracking to make somewhere in the range of $140-$180 million at the domestic box office during its opening weekend.
One of the hallmark’s of Superman‘s marketing strategy has been the use of the iconic John Williams score from the original Christopher Reeves’ starring franchise, a clear cue toward the type of tone that the film will have.
Still, for as beloved as the legendary Williams’ score is, I personally feel that this fan-made trailer edited in the style of the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 trailer is the best piece of marketing for Superman yet.
Alongside David Corenswet as the Man of Steel, Superman — the first movie in the DCU — also stars Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luhtor, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner (a Green Lantern), Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, and Frank Grillo as Rick Grillo Sr.
Additional cast members in the James Gunn-directed film include María Gabriela de Faría, Sara Sampaio, Terence Rosemore, Pruitt Taylor Vince, Neva Howell, Beck Bennett, Mikaela Hoover, and more.
