Yet another Switch “hack” has been revealed, this time turning Nintendo’s gaming handheld into the “world’s slowest iPhone.”
The Switch 2 was released on June 5, 2025, but that hasn’t prevented modders from playing around with the OG console.
In June, modder PatRyk, successfully did something no other user has done before: Run iOS on the Switch.
In a post on X, PatRyk impressed many others after revealing his accomplishment, as well as the issues he has with the device.
Man runs iOS on original Nintendo Switch
“I’ve lost my mind (and 2 days of my life to install this),” he said in a post. “Behold: the world’s slowest ‘iPhone.’”
You can see iOS running on the Switch 1 in PatRyk’s picture, but according to the modder, it isn’t without its fair share of issues.
He says it takes over 20 minutes to load into the iPhone operating system, it crashes every time you do something, and you can’t open any apps just yet.
For those considering doing it themselves, you may have to wait for an easier process to emerge in the future, as Pat mentioned, it took over two days to accomplish. He did give a little bit of insight on how he made it happen, however, as the device is running Arch Linux and a customized version of the QEMU emulator.
This isn’t the first Switch hack to go viral on social media either. Back in April 2024, one user managed to connect their Game Boy Advance to a Switch Lite to use it as a controller.
