Streamer calls Twitch ‘insecure’ after banning him for breaking multi-stream rules

Nuttylmao Twitch ban tweet

Twitch streamer Nutty has called Twitch ‘insecure’ after receiving a ban for breaking the site’s multi-stream rules.

Multi-streaming across multiple platforms has skyrocketed in popularity over the years as creators look to gain followers on nearly every social media site possible. However, each app has its own set of rules to follow, and sometimes things can go awry.

On Monday, June 16, Twitch partner Nutty was banned from the platform for the first time. He quickly reacted to the news on X, posting a simple “RIP” in the process.

It wasn’t long until he revealed that it was for a “simulcasting guidelines violation,” and speculated on what he could have actually done to break the rules.

The warning gave Nutty a list of examples that could cause the violation, including one that specifically mentions “merging chat.” Due to this, his immediate conclusion was that Twitch banned him over having chat showing on stream from all the platforms he was broadcasting on.

However, Nutty quickly changed his mind after a viewer reminded him that he asked people to send gifts on TikTok to test an alert.

“I was asking my chat to send me TikTok gifts in the middle of my stream to test an alert, which is technically not allowed,” he said.

According to the email, directing your community to leave Twitch and go to another platform is against its TOS.

He was quick to share his thoughts about the guidelines and his ban as well, calling out the “unbelievably stupid” rules and ‘insecure’ Twitch.

“I’ll take the suspension, but these guidelines are unbelievably stupid and need to be rewritten,” he said. “By this wording, you technically can’t show StreamElements/Streamlabs donations on stream. How tf does acknowledging other platforms on stream exclude or limit the Twitch community?”

One of his followers commented that they had no idea “merging chats” was against TOS, prompting a response from Nutty.

“Twitch doesn’t want you to ‘prioritize’ other platforms over them. Screams insecurity tbh,” he said.

Multi-chat being against Twitch TOS has been brought up many times over the years. Back in April, Valkyrae called for the platform to change its rules entirely so she could show YouTube chat on Twitch and not face a ban.
