Kid Cudi was hired at the last minute to replace Kanye at Rolling Loud Miami. But the rapper walked off the stage after just four songs due to crowd abuse.
Several water bottles flew from the crowd and hit Cudi during his set. He was performing “REVOFEV” when the first bottle hit Cudi right in the face. “Yo, I will walk off this stage if you all throw one more fucking thing up here, I will leave, I will leave right now,” the rapper told the crowd. “Throw one more f*cking thing on this stage and I’ll walk off, I’l not f*cking playing. I’m not f*cking playing, you will ruin it for everybody.”
“I’ll f*cking leave if I get hit with one more f*cking thing, if I see one more f*cking thing on this f*cking stage, I’m leaving. Don’t f*ck with me,” Kid Cudi continued. Almost immediately after he finished the rant, another water bottle was thrown on the stage. Kid Cudi walked off just thirty minutes into his set.
While he was hired to perform in Kanye West’s stead, Kanye made a surprise appearance during Lil Durk’s set. The duo performed “Hot Shit,” together as well as “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1,” which features vocals from Cudi. Following the incident, Rolling Loud organizers issued a statement about the crowd’s behavior during Kid Cudi’s set.
“Rolling Loud is a family. Our fans, the artists, and everyone involved need to look out for each other. Share the love and be respectful to everyone. We love you, Cudi. Please take care of each other and let’s have an amazing day 2!”
According to Rolling Loud organizers Tariq Cherif and Matt Zingler, Kanye wanted to bring out Travis Scott. But the venue in which the festival is held has a ban on Scott after what happened at Astroworld. When Kanye learned he couldn’t bring Scott out like he wanted, he bailed on headlining the festival.
Kid Cudi filled in as a last-minute replacement, which irked some Kanye fans. Cudi is friends with Pete Davidson, who Kanye has beef with over him dating Kanye’s ex-wife, Kim Kardashian. It seems fans took this beef a bit too far on the stage Friday night.
