RaKai banned on Twitch amid reckless driving crackdown

Popular Twitch streamer RaKai has been banned from the Amazon-owned platform amid their new crackdown on reckless driving and updating their rules on using your phone while in control of a vehicle.

Streaming while driving has been a thing on Twitch for quite some time. A number of streamers have in-car setups designed for them to be able to stream and interact with their chat without being distracted from the road.

However, there have been a number of incidents where streamers have fallen foul of both Twitch’s rules and the actual rules of the road.

Streamer RaKai is the latest example of that. The popular IRL streamer, who has featured on a number of Kai Cenat’s broadcasts, was live on June 15 and could be seen regularly staring at his phone while driving.

RaKai hit with Twitch ban for dangerous driving

In one moment, the 16-year-old could be seen trying to get the wheel back in control after almost veering off the road while staring at his phone. A second clip also showed him staring at his phone for 7 seconds straight, putting it directly in front of his face and blocking the road.

Viewers reported the two clips in question, leading to the streamer receiving a ban on June 16.

RaKai had been warned by Kai that a ban was potentially incoming, especially as Twitch updated its rules on dangerous driving on June 9.

“Dangerous or distracted driving–such as operating your vehicle while interacting with your stream in a way that removes your eyes from the road or hands from controlling your vehicle–is never acceptable on Twitch,” the rule reads.

“Allowed example: Setting up your streaming device/camera while parked in a safe location prior to driving. Prohibited example: Reading chat messages or physically touching your streaming camera or device for prolonged periods of time or frequency while driving.”

Twitch does not publicly state how long bans are for, but your first suspension is usually 24 hours. ExtraEmily received that ban when she was suspended for streaming herself driving through a red light in April.
