Meg Remy unveils final preview of upcoming U.S. Girls album, out June 20 via Royal Mountain Records and 4AD.
Meg Remy, the visionary behind U.S. Girls, has released one final preview of her forthcoming 2025 album with the new single ‘No Fruit,’ out now via Royal Mountain Records and 4AD. The track lands just days ahead of the highly anticipated release of Scratch It, due Friday, June 20, 2025.
‘No Fruit’ closes the album on a striking note—a slinky funk-inspired diss track layered with biting lyricism and poetic foresight. Guitarist and co-writer Dillon Watson brings stylish swagger through wah-wah riffs, adding to Remy’s commanding delivery as she sings:
“If you don’t plant with the moon in mind / You will surely suffer shallow roots / When harvest time comes the picker will find / You got no fruit.”
The release follows two earlier singles from the album: the expansive, 12-minute opener ‘Bookends‘—a tribute to late Power Trip frontman Riley Gale—and ‘Like James Said,’ a Rich Morel co-write that channels AM gold with a lyrical nod to James Brown’s call to movement. Together, these singles preview Scratch It’s genre-defying approach, shaped by various influences including gospel, disco, country, garage rock, folk, and more.
Recorded live to tape in Nashville, the album marks a significant shift from U.S. Girls’ computer-based production toward a warmer, live band sound. The record features a handpicked ensemble including Dillon Watson, Jack Lawrence, Domo Donoho, Jo Schornikow, Tina Norwood, and harmonica legend Charlie McCoy.
‘No Fruit’ is out now.
