Most people ended up picking a side when Kendrick Lamar and Drake found themselves engaged in a feud where the former ultimately prevailed. There’s still no love lost between the two men, and a Canadian politician was forced to do some damage control after the one who was born and raised in Toronto called him out for attending his rival’s show in the city.

At this point, I feel like most people know what transpired after Kendrick Lamar fired a shot in Drake’s direction on a song in 2024 to spark the feud that led to the two of them trading verbal blows until the Compton native essentially delivered the knockout punch with “Not Like Us.”

His foe dropped one more track before waving the white flag, and K-Dot took a victory lap that involved a performance at Super Bowl LIX that featured an appearance from SZA, the singer who’s served as the co-headliner for the Grand National Tour that kicked off in April.

The international leg of that tour officially got underway last week when it headed to the Rogers Center in  Toronto on June 12th for the first of back-to-back shows that marked the first time any hip-hop act had sold out a run of multiple performances at the venue located in the heart of the city Drake has famously repped.

According to Stereogum, the list of attendees included Jagmeet Singh, a Canadian politician who was named the leader of the New Democratic Party in 2017 before resigning from the post after losing in the parliamentary election that was held at the end of April this year.

Singh also earned an Instagram follow from Drake in 2019, but he fell out of the rapper’s good graces after he was spotted in the crowd at one of Kendrick’s Toronto shows—a development that led to him receiving a DM where the “6 God” called him a “goof.”

That led to Singh issuing an apology while asserting SZA, not Kendrick, had drawn him to the show before pledging his loyalty to Drake.
