There’s so much good music out in the ether that sometimes it’s difficult to parse through all of it. Every week The Daily Music Report will do the hard work for you and highlight the best releases available on streaming services.
This week we’re highlighting new music from ODESZA, Beach Bunny, and Ty Segall.
ODESZA – The Last Goodbye
It’s been a long five years since we’ve had a new ODESZA album. And boy, was the wait worth it. On The Last Goodbye, the Washington state duo do not disappoint. Fifty minutes long, the 13-track endeavor doesn’t hold back. When the duo first announced the album back in March, they released the following statement: “Over the past few years we’ve been able to reflect on who we are, what it means to do what we do, and in the end, who we are doing this for. We became focused and inspired by the impact our families and friends have imprinted on us and how we want to continue to echo that out as we move through this life. We found comfort in the fact that those who we love stay with us, that they become intrinsically part of us, in a way.” Their inspiration shows. Their dedication shows. And their love and focus shows on one of the best albums of the year.
Standout Songs: Wide Awake (Feat. Charlie Houston), Love Letter (Feat. The Knocks), Behind the Sun, The Last Goodbye (Feat. Bettye LaVette), Healing Grid, Light of Day (Feat. Ólafur Arnalds)
