British YouTuber Tom Scott has returned to his main channel over a year after announcing his retirement from making weekly videos with big plans for the future.
In January 2024, Tom Scott, who had been uploading a YouTube video every week for ten years, announced he was stopping the grind in a reveal that broke fans’ hearts.
He claimed that he wasn’t quitting content creation altogether, though, and over the ensuing year-and-a-half, Scott has been co-hosting podcasts like Lateral and The Technical Difficulties.
He’s also been publishing a weekly newsletter highlighting “good things on the internet” — but he wants to do more.
Tom Scott famously quit uploading a YouTube video every week in early 2024 – something he’d done for the last 10 years.
Tom Scott says it’s “time to come home” with new YouTube series
On June 11, 2025, Scott returned in an unexpected video uploaded to his main channel, where he asked fans for help in his next forthcoming projects.
While Scott has always pursued answers to questions everyone’s had at some point in their lives, he now wants to focus on history — particularly, British history. The YouTuber encouraged viewers to send in their suggestions for interesting places and things in the UK that he can make videos about.
Scott also put out an open call for “interesting people” in the area, hoping to connect and interview unique individuals about their lives and work.

Tom Scott’s forthcoming YouTube series is currently titled ‘Let’s go see England,’ and is scheduled to debut sometime in 2026.
He made sure to mention, however, that he’s not sure his upcoming content will even have legs.
“It will probably take a while. Maybe it won’t happen. Maybe I’ll try it and it won’t work. I don’t know, and that is a little bit scary,” he admitted.
“Setting up something that is deliberately ‘less’ and is also, right now, a long way away from being real and might not even happen, that is a bit scary.”
Scott revealed the working title for his series, ‘Let’s go see England,’ which he plans to debut sometime in 2026 on an unspecified YouTube channel. His open-call video will be deleted in seven days.
Tom Scott was one of several YouTubers who retired in the last year, which included MatPat, who famously said goodbye to being the face of Game Theory after 15 years.
