In film news we didn’t see coming, pop star Nick Jonas will play KISS singer-guitarist Paul Stanley in the upcoming biopic Shout It Out Loud.
Deadline reports that the Jonas Brothers singer-guitarist has been cast as the KISS legend, and will do his own singing in the movie.
The film is being directed by McG, known for helming various music videos for artists like Korn, The Offspring, Sugar Ray, and Sublime, as well big-screen flicks such as Charlie’s Angels and Terminator Salvation, among others.

According to Deadline, McG is also looking to get a big-name actor to play KISS singer-bassist Gene Simmons, while there’s no word yet on who will portray guitarist Ace Frehley and drummer Peter Criss.
Back in 2023, it was reported that Shout It Out Loud would be released on Netflix in 2024, while news of the film first broke a couple years earlier in 2021. Now, Deadline reports that the movie will first go into production at the end of this year or in early 2026, meaning it probably won’t be released until late 2026 or even 2027.
The latest script is being handled by Darren Lemke, a screenwriter who’s worked on Shrek Forever After, Goosebumps, Kung Fu Panda 4, and other films.
Shout It Out Loud will focus on the formation and early days of KISS, who formed in New York City in the early ’70s, and went on to be one of the most influential acts in rock history.
While he’s best known as a member of Jonas Brothers, Nick Jonas has been building up an impressive acting résumé, appearing in Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian and a couple of Jumanji films, as well as being a regular on the TV series Kingdom, among other roles.
KISS, meanwhile, retired from touring at the end of 2023, but recently announced that members of the band will perform unmasked at a fan convention in Las Vegas taking place in November of this year. Hear Gene Simmons on a recent episode of Consequence‘s Kyle Meredith With… podcast below.
