Elaine Hendrix is revisiting her most iconic movie character — and has fans questioning if “The Parent Trap”‘s Meredith Blake is actually a villain. Hendrix, 51, posted a TikTok on July 21 to mark the 24th anniversary of the 1998 film’s release one day prior. In the video, Hendrix pours herself a glass of wine while participating in the popular app’s “He’s a 10 but” challenge.
As Hendrix enjoys her glass of red, text on the screen reads, “He’s a 10 but . . . He had twins he separated at birth when he broke up with their mother and didn’t tell you about it until the twins discovered each other at camp and swapped places to try and get their parents back together. And you not so accidentally run into all of them at the same hotel right before your wedding, so you go on a camping trip to get to know one another, but you’re not a nature girl and the twins know it.”
Continues Hendrix’s captions, “So the little brats put rocks in your backpack, a lizard on your head, sugar water in your mosquito repellent and push your air mattress into the lake while you’re sleeping. So you lose your sh*t.” Finishing up her character’s storyline, Hendrix — who has gone on to appear in projects like “Dynasty” — writes, “You’ve never looked back.” In the caption, the actor wrote, “Happy 24th Anniversary.”
In “The Parent Trap,” Meredith was a 24-year-old publicist working with Nick Parker (Dennis Quaid) on promoting his California vineyard — all while romancing the charming dad. Unfortunately, Nick’s scheming twins (both played by Lindsay Lohan) don’t much care for their would-be stepmother.
Super-sleuth fans in the comment section noticed, too, that Hendrix’s wine was from a bottle whose label read “Parkers” — a cheeky nod to Nick’s fictional winery in the movie, Parker Knoll.
Back in 2020, the cast of the film reunited to celebrate the 22nd anniversary of its release. Lohan, Quaid, Hendrix, Lisa Ann Walter, Simon Kunz, and director Nancy Meyers participated in a virtual call with Katie Couric to reminisce about making the movie.

During the reunion, Hendrix brought up the reframing of Meredith and her behavior. She said, “At the time, yes, she was a nightmare. But, Meredith has really come around now! Like, there’s a whole generation who thinks Meredith is like, #goals.”
