Miley Cyrus is shedding light on her decision to be child-free.

The “Flowers” singer appeared on The New York Times’ “The Interview” podcast and explained why she just doesn’t feel that passionate about the possibility of motherhood.

“My stepdad asked me the other day, ‘Why are you the only one without a makeup line?’” Cyrus said in a sit-down with Lulu Garcia-Navarro.

“I was like, ‘Cause that’s not my passion.’ He goes, ‘That’s the right answer.’ And it made so much sense. It’s like, ‘I don’t have a makeup line because I’m not a makeup artist,’” she continued.

“I feel that way about motherhood. It’s just never been something that I’ve been overly passionate about,” she said.

“It’s a lot of responsibility and devotion and energy, and if you’re not passionate about that, I don’t know how you do sleepless nights and 18 years of what my mom dealt with,” she added.

“And when I say 18 years, I mean 33, ’cause I’m still a baby,” she quipped. “So I’ve never felt the burn, you know? And I think for me, the burn is everything.”

Cyrus has shared her ambivalence toward parenting in the past.

“I do not shame anyone that wants to have children. I just personally don’t believe that’s a priority for me in my life,” the singer shared in an interview on SiriusXM Hits 1’s “The Morning Mash Up” in 2020.

She added that she’d “never really cared that much” about motherhood or marriage, despite what her younger self might’ve said in earlier interviews.

“I am sure that my fans are going to pull up me at 12 saying, ‘Oh, I want to have kids,’ but like I don’t,” she said, adding that at her age, she now has a “a little bit more of a realistic idea of what they want.”

“That has never been kind of my priority,” she explained.

Cyrus joins a chorus of other celebrities who have been transparent about their desire not to have children.

Seth Rogen said during an appearance on “The Diary of a CEO” podcast in 2023 that not having children has “definitely” allowed him to be successful.

“There’s a whole huge thing I’m not doing, which is raising children,” he shared, adding that he and his wife are both absolutely on the same page.

“Honestly, the older we get,” the “Knocked Up” actor added, “the more happy and reaffirmed we are with our choice to not have kids.”
