strongboi returns with ‘special,’ a soaring new slice of alt-pop and the second single from their upcoming EP.
Following February’s smooth ‘be mine,’ ‘special’ builds on the duo’s old-school influences with a fresh and playful twist. Emotive backing vocals and a simple, heavenly arrangement nod to classic soul, while strongboi’s signature dreamy alt-pop vibe remains at the forefront. The track channels the uplifting energy of their live performances, which have become a cornerstone of the group’s growing reputation.
‘special’ was recorded at Thump and Diamond Mine in NYC and reflects the evolved, full-band sound strongboi have developed since their lo-fi beginnings. A passion project from longtime collaborators Alice & Ziv, strongboi continues to blend vintage sensibilities with contemporary charm, crafting what The Line of Best Fit previously called “sunny bedroom pop dreams.”
