Yumi Zouma embraces raw rock swagger on explosive ‘Blister’

Channeling the spirit of early 2000s indie-rock with a gleeful abandon, ‘Blister’ is driven by a chorus-tinged bassline and massive, compressed drums that push the band into new sonic territory. It’s a sharp departure from their usual polished dream-pop textures—an all-out, riff-forward anthem that draws comparisons to Blur’s ‘Song 2’ in both energy and execution. Combining acoustic strums with gritty electric riffs, the track delivers a nostalgic yet revitalizing rush, carried by one of vocalist Christie Simpson’s most dynamic performances to date.
The band says:
“We found strength in simplicity, discovering that the more stripped-down we went, the more potent the impact became. Blister surges ahead on massive, compressed drums that channel the early-2000s era, conjuring images of flip-phone commercials and carefree road trips. Acoustic guitars blend seamlessly with electric riffs, creating a sonic palette that’s both nostalgic and revitalizing.”
‘Blister’ is out now.
