Why Bonnie, the NYC-via-Texas project led by Blair Howerton, returns with ‘Fake Out’ – Bedroom Version, a delicate reworking of the standout single from their 2024 LP Wish on the Bone. The track arrives alongside the announcement of The Bedroom EP, out July 25th via Fire Talk.

With only Howerton’s voice and guitar, the new version of ‘Fake Out’ trades the original’s layered production for stark intimacy. The acoustic arrangement brings her vulnerable lyricism into sharper focus. It’s a bold reframing that highlights Why Bonnie’s core strength: emotionally resonant melodies grounded in poetic realism.

Howerton explains:

“These songs were written out of hope for a better future. I’m not naïve, the world is fucked up, but I think you can radically accept that while still believing it’s possible to change things.”

The Bedroom EP will feature three acoustic reworks and a new demo, giving fans a more intimate look at Why Bonnie’s songwriting. The band will also perform a free hometown show on Friday, June 20th at Bryant Park in New York City as part of the Emerging Music Festival.
