Posting a selfie with a bandaged nose, he wrote a heartfelt message to fans in which he thanked them for their support.

He began: “Hello lovely ladies and gentlemen. Time has finally come to reveal the news but first things first. THANK YOU all for the lovely birthday wishes!

“I appreciate every post, every message and I promise you I’ve felt very special and supported on this very important day in my life.

“Now about the photo – soon after my birthday I was hospitalised due to inability to breathe. I was taken into surgery and the photo was taken right after I had come out of the surgical room.”

The actor also shared that he chose to keep the ordeal private until now to avoid alarming anyone.

He added: “As always and those who know me closer, I went through this in silence as I didn’t want to scare or worry anybody. I’ve always been this way. I fight through struggles in quiet.

“Of course I had support from the few I had told and my family for which I’m very thankful.”

Thankfully, Stan said he’s now on the mend and looking forward to a full recovery.

He continued: “I am still recovering and things are looking great. I will be able to breathe freely, experience all scents of life, which was something I had lost over the past months.

“I will be able to sleep without struggles, recover properly with peaceful sleep and be at my full powers very soon.”

He added that he currently has “a few pieces planted” in his nose, meaning he can’t speak properly and has temporarily paused his Cameo bookings.

Stan explained: “I stopped it, so I’m not available for bookings until I can talk properly again.”

A recent checkup, however, brought some good news.

He said: “I had a checkup with my doctor today and he said that I’m recovering really well and was actually quite surprised with my progress. I guess all the healthy diets, training and self control and belief help in such cases.”

“Thank you all for all the love and support as always! Much love from me to you all and have a wonderful and majestic weekend ahead. Yours truly, Stan.”

These days, Stan looks completely unrecognisable after leaving acting to embark on a completely unrelated project.

Fans will remember him with a shaved head and some impressive Quidditch skills in the 2005 hit – in which he took on the role of Hermione’s love interest.

Well, you will be stunned to know that he is now a lecturer and a motivational speaker.

Announcing the career change, Stan penned to his Instagram followers: “Today was a very motivational day. I took part in a lecture and hope to have inspired the students as much as they inspired me.”

He now looks worlds away from the fresh-faced child actor, with facial hair, big muscles and a series of different tattoos inked on his body.

In 2021, he treated fans to a picture with a host of other co-stars from Harry Potter.

He posted a shot of them all together 20 years after the first movie writing: “Catching up in #france 🇫🇷.”

Stan appeared on the left side of the picture, beside Hugh Mitchell, who portrayed Gryffindor lad Colin Creevy.

The Muggle-born character was famous in the Harry Potter story for taking pictures of the renowned boy-wizard – and he is now a photographer himself in real life.

In the centre of the shot was Devon Murray, who played Irish student Seamus Finnigan.

Second from the right was Tolga Safer, who was aide to the headmaster of wizarding school Durmstrang in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
