YouTube star MrBeast had a scathing callout for Hershey’s after discovering the brand placing carefully-crafted advertisements on his own content.
Jimmy ‘MrBeast‘ Donaldson is branching out from his status as YouTube’s most-subscribed content creator, thanks in no small part to his burgeoning chocolate bar empire.
After launching ‘Feastables’ in 2022, Donaldson’s candy company has become almost impossible to avoid in most major grocery stores in the US — and he’s even made it his mission to end unethical child labor practices in West Africa’s chocolate farms.
In doing so, he’s created a ‘beef’ or sorts with other top chocolate brands, particularly Hershey’s. After taunting the massive company by parking Feastables trucks outside The Hershey Story museum in April, he’s now accusing the brand of “harassing” his fanbase with targeted ads.
MrBeast hits out at Hershey’s for “harassing” his fans
On May 20, MrBeast published a tweet showing a screenshot of a Hershey’s advertisement on the Target mobile app, where he’d navigated to purchase a Feastables chocolate bar.
He noticed that the advertisement used the same color scheme as the Feastables bars — light blue and orange.
On top of that, he accused Hershey’s of buying advertisements on his YouTube channel, as well as his Beast Games show on Amazon Prime, in an apparent attempt to compete with the Feastables brand.
“When I search Feastables on Target I get this Hershey ad that conveniently uses our Feastables blue color,” he wrote.
“They also buy pre roll ads on my YouTube channel and Beast Games. Stop harassing my fans, Hershey, they don’t want you.”
MrBeast has been vocal about his goal of cleaning up the chocolate industry, using the cash from his ever-expanding YouTube empire to build hospitals for former child slaves in West Africa and providing free breakfast for students in the region.
As a result, Donaldson says school attendance spiked in just the first week — one of many small victories the YouTuber is celebrating in his quest to end unethical practices in the field.
