Sofía Vergara is single, and she knows exactly what she wants.
The “Modern Family” star laid out what she’s looking for in a partner during an appearance Wednesday on “Today with Jenna & Friends.”
“I want to say the basic stuff, like health and somebody that loves me,” the Emmy nominee shared. “And somebody tall and handsome.”
Vergara, who is routinely one of the world’s highest paid actresses, also got honest about the financial aspect of being with her.
“I want somebody that has as much money as me or more, because if not, it’s a nightmare,” the actor said, adding that partners eventually “end up resenting you.”
“But I want somebody fun,” she added. “I need fun in my life.”
Vergara split from her husband, fellow actor Joe Manganiello, in 2023. She has said that the two’s marriage broke down over the issue of having children.
Vergara, 52, previously told People magazine that she wasn’t ready to become a mother again at that stage in her life. The actor already has a son, 33-year-old Manolo Gonzalez Vergara, from a previous relationship.

“There’s things in life that might sound like good ideas, but they’re not,” she said in an interview last year. “I was a mother already. I know what it means to be a good mother or to try to be the best mother that you can, and that takes a lot of sacrifices, takes a lot of energy.”
“But that’s for me, and I totally respect where anyone wants to be a mom after 50,” she added. “I didn’t think because of my career, the way I live my life, the way my marriage was, that it was fair to bring a kid to this world, and I’m not going to be able to give 100%.”
Manganiello denied Vergara’s account of why they divorced, and claims the two tried to have a family together but then just “grew apart.”
“To be painted as if I had some sort of midlife crisis, and after nine years, turned to somebody and gave them an ultimatum of, ‘Do this potentially unhealthy thing to your body, or else I’m gone’?” Manganiello told Men’s Journal in 2024. “That’s never who I was.”
