Michael J. Fox is set to guest star in Season 3 of the Apple TV+ comedy Shrinking.
Details of his character remain under wraps, but it will mark his first acting role since retiring in 2020 due to speech issues related to his ongoing battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Shrinking was co-created by Bill Lawrence and Brett Goldstein, starring Jason Segel as a grieving therapist who decides to get more involved with his patients’ lives following his wife’s death. It also stars Harrison Ford, Christa Miller, Jessica Williams, Luke Tennie, Michael Urie, Lukita Maxwell, and Ted McGinley.
Other previously announced new cast members for Season 3 include Jeff Daniels, Sherry Cola, and Isabella Gomez.
Fox’s guest role on Shrinking will mark a reunion with Lawrence. The two previously worked together on Lawrence’s ABC sitcom Spin City, which Fox starred in for four seasons before departing due to symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. The actor also made a two-episode cameo in Lawrence’s NBC sitcom Scrubs.
