The North Mississippi Allstars have unveiled the latest single off their impending full-length album, Still Shakin’, due on June 6, 2025, via New West Records. “Don’t Let The Devil Ride” is available to stream now and arrived alongside an official lyrical music video.
Today’s soulful entry follows the Relix shared single, the title track off the band’s forthcoming 12th studio album. “Don’t Let the Devil Ride” stirs up the ensemble’s blues-laden cover of Bishop Neal Roberson’s original, a song that frequently arrives as a concert finisher during the Blind Boys of Alabama’s gigs, helmed by Joey Williams, the track’s guest contributor.
Luther Dickinson explains the song’s significance: “For the last year or so, Joey Williams (Blind Boys of Alabama) has been closing North Mississippi Allstars shows with ‘Don’t Let the Devil Ride’ and we wanted to capture that spirit for the album. Kashiah Hunter laid down the Sacred Steel guitar.”
Still Shakin’ is linked to North Mississippi Allstars’ 2000 debut LP, Shake Hands with Shorty. The band’s impending album will surface as a capstone to their 25-year tenure, offering an expansion of their first collection that showcases the brothers’ widening skill set harnessed to a steadfast commitment to tradition, Mississippi Hill Country, Sacred Steel, and an aptitude for psychedelic jams.
Speaking to the totality of the set, Luther adds “Still Shakin’ is a celebration of our life-changing first album, which we released 25 years ago, and a love letter of appreciation to everyone who supported us and kept us in the game all these years. In the spirit of our debut, we recorded Mississippi classics that despite inspiring us to start the band in 1996, we have yet to record. We also wanted to feature our fantastic bandmates Joey Williams and Rayfield “Ray Ray” Hollman who inspire us to no end. Their contributions elevate NMA to new heights.”
