Craig Finn has unveiled his plans for a North American tour with a brand new band. After releasing his sixth solo studio album, Always Been, in April, which featured production from Adam Granduciel and performances from other members of The War On Drugs, Finn will take the acclaimed project to stages across the Northeast and Midwest in October. The singer-songwriter and The Hold Steady frontman will make 15 dates from Oct. 9 to Oct. 25 with support from The Band of Forgiveness, his yet unrevealed backing combo.
Finn’s fall tour will begin on October 9 with a performance at Millersville, Pa.’s Phantom Power. From there, the artist will sprint into a series that includes stagings at Washington, D.C.’s Black Cat on Oct. 10, Pittsburgh’s Mr. Smalls Theatre on Oct. 11, Indianapolis’ Turntable on Oct. 13, Minneapolis’ Fine Line on Oct. 15, Chicago’s Lincoln Hall on Oct. 18, Buffalo, N.Y.’s Asbury Hall on Oct. 21, Toronto, Ontario’s Longboat Hall on Oct. 22 and Woodstock, N.Y.’s Bearsville Theater on Oct. 24. The tour will culminate back in his home city of New York with a finale at Le Poisson Rouge on Oct. 25.
Before hitting the road this fall, Finn will wind through 12 scattered sets in the summer, including co-bill shows with The Mountain Goats, The Decemberists and Kevin Morby and bookings at XPoNential Music Festival and Guster’s on the Ocean Festival. The unquestioned highlight of his plans, though, is the upcoming Always Been album release performance he’s planned for May 30 at the Bowery Ballroom. The exclusive event will figure Finn alongside a top-tier People of Substance Band, including album producer Granduciel and his The War On Drugs bandmates like keyboardist Robbie Bennett and bassist Dave Hartley, Bonnie Light Horseman multi-instrumentalist and producer Josh Kaufman, storied session saxophonist Nelson Devereaux, folk singer-songwriter Kathleen Edwards and drummer and jam scene favorite Joe Russo.
