Poker streamer instabanned after disguising cheats as ‘Mom’s Shopping List’

alanfpoker cheats exposed on twitch

A Twitch poker streamer was instantly banned after being caught using cheats to help get an advantage.

Cheating in games is nothing new. Players have found ways to get ahead in everything from Call of Duty, Overwatch, and even Chess.

However, it’s rarer when streamers cheat and it’s even less common for them for expose their methods during a broadcast, although it has happened from time to time.

On May 7, Irish poker player Alan ‘AlanFPoker’ Finn was competing on WPT Global while streaming on Twitch and accidentally revealed that a file he had opened called ‘Mom’s Shopping List’ was for anything but groceries.

Twitch streamer caught cheating in poker with ‘Mom’s Shopping List’

Cheating in poker comes down to two things: either knowing what cards your opponent has, or using calculations to determine odds.

While the former is quite rare, with one player once accused of cheating with a see-through deck and special lenses to win $3M, using cheat sheets to help with odds is much easier.

During AlanFPoker’s broadcast, he showed two Excel spreadsheets with one named ‘WPT Range’ and the other ‘Mom’s Shopping List.’

As Poker News reports, WPT’s rules state: “Players are prohibited from using devices such as robots or any other external player assistance (EPAs) program that distort normal play on the Site and give the player an unfair advantage. Players are required to make their own decisions when playing, without the aid of any information other than that obtained during the Players’ own play.”

As such, WPT Poker issued a statement explaining that AlanFPoker had been banned while urging other players to “keep the game alive.”

So far, Finn has yet to address the cheating scandal on social media as he’s gone dark since being banned. Twitch has also yet to suspend his account despite the platform listing cheating in online games as a violation of their policies.

This isn’t the only cheating scandal to make waves in May 2025. Most notably, DrLupo faced backlash after admitting to cheating during a $100K chess tournament.
