Nick Offerman is just one of many beloved character actors joining the Mission: Impossible party in The Final Reckoning, alongside Tramell Tillman, Hannah Waddingham, Holt McCallany, and Janet McTeer.
Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to promote Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, which releases in movie theaters on Friday, May 23, the beloved former Parks and Recreation star detailed what appears to be quite a common experience in Hollywood: being swept off his feet by Tom Cruise.
According to Offerman, it took him just one day on set to “fall in love” with the iconic movie star.
“It was like I was going to a college class of Charisma 101, Protagonist Doctorate Degree. I mean, by the time he finished shooting that scene, I was like, ‘F— the movie, ‘I will take a bullet for you. Tom, like, put me on your security.’”
“I think it’s just his work ethic. He’s so passionate. Every scene he’s either scrutinizing… this scene is really intense. That amount of focus, and then sometimes he brings it to bear on you. He will focus in on you like they say the greatest politicians do. And you’re just like, ‘Wow.’”
“By the end of my first day I went home and said to my wife Megan, ‘I’m in love with Tom Cruise.’ He’s just constantly got that amount of focus and then sometimes he brings it to bear on you… That’s his superpower.”
Offerman’s opinion of Cruise is certainly in line with what’s been said about him before, and that’s despite his immense fame, he has this uncanny ability to make anyone and everyone feel like the most important person in the world when he’s speaking to them.
In addition to Cruise, Offerman, and the aforementioned supporting players, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning also stars Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Pom Klementieff, Esai Morales, Vanessa Kirby, Henry Czerny, and Angela Bassett.
