Spotify has introduced a new “snooze” button that will allow users to hide a song from their recommendations for 30 days, giving listeners a break from overplayed tracks.
The snooze button is currently available to Premium users, but the company said in a press release that more listeners will be able to try it soon.
This is one of several new Spotify features rolled out on Wednesday that are intended to optimize the listening experience. The streaming service also revamped its “queue” feature by incorporating shuffle, smart shuffle, and sleep timer options.

Users will also be able to see what music Spotify recommends after their queued music ends and have the option to turn off the “autoplay” feature, giving listeners more control over what plays next.
Spotify’s autoplay feature, which automatically plays recommended songs after a user’s chosen tracks end, is divisive among listeners. Last year, some users believed that the streamer was intentionally overplaying pop songs like Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso,” even playing the track after songs that were completely different genres. These new Spotify features appear to address some of these complaints about its recommendations and the frequency at which they are played.
In addition to these recommendation controls, Spotify introduced more playlist management tools in this latest update. Users in the US, Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, and the UK will be able to turn their “Liked Songs” into playlists sorted by genre. All of the new recommendations and playlist features will be available for Premium users.
Spotify has increased prices for its Premium plan in each of the past two years, stating last year that the hikes allowed the streaming service to “continue to invest in and innovate on our product features and bring users the best experience.”
