Twitch streamer EmilyCC is worried about the consequences of actually ending her three-year-long livestream as she questions what more fans want from her.
Over the last few years, subathons and similar streams have become incredibly popular on Twitch. Fans get to support their favorite streamers and, in turn, they can’t end the stream until the subscribers stop rolling in.
The likes of Kai Cenat, Ironmouse, and Ludwig have all had iconic subathons on Twitch, lasting a month at a time. However, EmilyCC holds the record for the longest stream on the Amazon-owned platform, as it has now lasted well over three years.
Emily has gotten recognition from plenty of other creators – Cenat even hosted her on his Mafiathon 2 and sent subscribers her way. However, she has questioned what more viewers want from her.
EmilyCC worries about “career suicide” of stopping 3-year long stream
The streamer spoke to the Washington Post about her marathon broadcast, touching on the effects it has had on her personal life, being unable to date, and if she’d ever actually quit being live every day.
Emily noted that it would be “career suicide” to end the stream anytime soon and “dreads” being in front of the camera at times, especially as viewers complain about a slow day from time to time.
She added that fans “are expecting more all the time,” but also “I’m like: What more do you want?”
Emily doesn’t want to give up on Twitch, comparing it to exposure therapy. “It’s forcing myself to do things I don’t want to do because I want this stream to work,” she told the WaPo. “I want it to work so bad that I just don’t care anymore.”
Continuing her stream means that her record will only continue to grow as well. Emily is over a year ahead of the closest challenger, SweatyPedals, who is under 900 days into things.
