Acid Bath just played a pair of shows in their hometown of New Orleans, marking the sludge-metal band’s first concerts in 28 years.
As previously reported, Acid Bath announced their reunion in October of last year, originally to play the since-canceled 2025 Sick New World festival. In the months since, they’ve added several festival and headlining dates to their itinerary (pick up tickets here), with the first two shows taking place at The Fillmore in New Orleans on Friday (April 25th) and Wednesday (April 30th).
The Friday show marked 28 years to the day that Acid Bath played their last concert, an April 25th, 1997 gig at the Shreveport Municipal Auditorium in Shreveport, Louisiana.
The band played an identical 10-song set at both Fillmore shows, split fairly evenly between their only two studio albums: 1994’s When the Kite String Pops (four songs) and 1996’s Paegan Terrorism Tactics (six songs).

For the 2025 shows, three of the band’s classic members — lead singer Dax Riggs, guitarist-vocalist Sammy “Pierre” Duet (now of Goatwhore), and guitarist-vocalist Mike Sanchez — are performing alongside drummer Zack Simmons and bassist Alex Bergeron.
Acid Bath broke up in 1997 after bassist Audie Pitre and his parents were tragically killed by a drunk driver in a car crash that year. At both New Orleans shows, Acid Bath dedicated the song “Scream of the Butterfly” to Pitre.
Sadly, another onetime member of the band, keyboardist Tommy Viator, died in 2024.
Next up on the reunion tour are appearances at the Sonic Temple and Welcome to Rockville festivals on May 9th and May 17th, respectively. After that, the band has over a dozen more US dates scheduled through December.
