AHSOKA Season 2 Reveals First Look Image and Production Start

Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano with millions of stars behind her

Ahsoka season one was one of the most exciting Disney+ Star Wars series to grace our screens. Not only did it bring together a ton of our favorite Star Wars Rebels characters on screen in live-action form, but it also introduced new favorites into the franchise, all while telling a mythological and ornate tale that held us captivated. And so, we were thrilled to hear when Ahsoka season two was officially announced. After all, Ahsoka season one left us with a few different cliffhangers. We were sure the story would continue in some kind of Star Wars project, but it’s good to know that Ahsoka’s story will get more time of its own to unfold in season two.

Happily, production on Ahsoka season two has now officially begun. To celebrate, Rosario Dawson gave us our first image from the next chapter of Ahsoka. In the new Ahsoka season two image, you can tell Dawson is back in action as our favorite character. We can’t wait to see more.

Here’s everything we know about Ahsoka season two.

Ahsoka Season 2’s Plot

We don’t have too many official descriptions of Ahsoka season two’s plot yet. What we do know is that when we left the gang in season one, everyone had a lot to unpack. Ezra Bridger reunited with Hera Syndulla after a long absence. Sabine and Ahsoka were trapped on Peridea with no obvious way to leave the distant planet and return to their home and friends. Baylan Skoll was searching for a mysterious connection to Mortis, and Shin Hati was searching for herself. Of course, the villainous Grand Admiral Thrawn was up to no good. He was working Great Mothers and officially has an army of zombie stormtroopers at his disposal. Yikes. We’ll no doubt reunite with all these characters in Ahsoka season two.

Then, of course, there’s the matter of the amount of chaos that is alive throughout the galaxy. The Imperial Remnant is in chaos, trying to regain its power. The New Republic, meanwhile, also faces problems of its own. As we shared in a previous article, “Season one of Ahsoka made it clear that bureaucracy is already weighing the burgeoning government down. It doesn’t seem like the new ruling force took the right lessons from pre-Galactic Empire times.” Where will that leave us in Ahsoka season two? Only time will tell.

At Star Wars celebration, a few more details about Ahsoka season two entered the fray. Firstly, Admiral Ackbar will return to the series with an even bigger role. Filoni shared that the Mon Calamari leader “will be a staunch ally for the galactic heroes,” and “He’s going head to head against Thrawn. What’s a Death Star compared to a blue guy?”

Additionally, we’ll see Loth-kittens on Ahsoka season two and they’ll be adorable fluff balls. “Their legs aren’t strong enough to walk, so they have to roll around,” said Filoni.

The Mortis gods will have also be back in Ahsoka season two and add an interesting element to the show. Of course, the Chosen One himself, Hayden Christensen will be back as Anakin Skywalker in the season. But there’s not much that we know about that yet.

Behind the Scenes

Lucasfilm hasn’t revealed much about the team that will bring to life Ahsoka season two, but the company has said that Dave Filoni “is currently developing Ahsoka Season 2.” Executive producer Jon Favreau will also return to helm the show.

Ahsoka Season 2’s Cast

So far, we know for a fact that Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka will be back in Ahsoka season two. Joining her will be Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker and Eman Esfandi’s Ezra Bridger. We assume we’ll also see Natasha Liu Bordizzo reprise her role as Mandalorian warrior Sabine Wren in Ahsoka season two, as well as Ivanna Sakhno returning as Shin Hati and Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla.

Additionally, we’d bet Lars Mikkelsen will be back as live-action Grand Admiral Thrawn, reprising his Ahsoka season one and Rebels role. David Tennant will likely also return to play the droid character Huyang, whom he previously voiced across the Star Wars world.

First Look at GAME OF THRONES’ Rory McCann as AHSOKA’s Baylan Skoll

One actor who will not return in Ahsoka season two is Ray Stevenson, who sadly passed away before filming on Ahsoka season two began. Game of Throne‘s Rory McCann will replace him as Baylan Skoll in Ahsoka season two.

Ahsoka Season 2’s Release Date

Ahsoka does not yet have a specific release date window, but production on season two has begun.
