Jake Paul hits out at critics & “excuses” over fight with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr

Jake Paul has hit out at some of the “excuses” that critics are throwing his way about his next fight with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

Since getting involved with professional boxing, Jake Paul has set his goals high. The ‘Problem Child’ has repeatedly said that he wants to fight the best fighters and, ultimately, become a world champion.

He has added a few big scalps to his record, scoring wins over Mike Tyson, Andre August, and Ryan Bourland. However, Jake has also been criticized for those fights due to the age difference between him and his opponents, especially when they’ve taken hiatuses from the ring.

The YouTuber-turned-boxer has already announced his next fight – a clash with former WBC champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. – and he wants to get a few of the regular excuses out of the way.

Jake Paul answers critics over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. fight

“Julio Cesar Chavez Jr is a former world champion, a cruiserweight world champion, the same weight as me, the same size as me, and 20 years more boxing experience than me,” Paul said in an April 28 X (formerly Twitter) post.

“Let’s get the excuses out of the way. Last week, Paddy Pimblett beat Michael Chandler, and the whole world lost their mind, but not a single person mentioned Michael Chandler’s age. That’s because he’s still within his prime ages, the same age as Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

“If people didn’t have a problem with Paddy, then why do they have a problem with me? So, when I beat him, don’t even try to cry about his age.”

The Mexican fighter, who is 39, hasn’t been away from the ring. He defeated former UFC fighter Uriah Hall on the undercard of Jake’s win over Mike Perry.

It will undoubtedly be a tough test for Jake, and one that will score him some respect with the boxing world – if he digs out the win.
