Court documents containing text messages from Logan Paul show the YouTube star wanted to make fellow influencer Coffeezilla “pay” for making videos criticizing his ‘CryptoZoo’ NFT project.
In August 2021, Paul launched an NFT project called ‘CryptoZoo,’ where players could ‘grow’ and trade their own NFT animals — not dissimilar to preexisting games like Pokemon, for example.
However, CryptoZoo soon came under scrutiny and ultimately never even launched. Investors later came forward with accusations that Paul had ‘scammed’ them, catching the attention of cryptocurrency investigator Coffeezilla.
Coffee published a viral video series breaking down the ins and outs of Paul’s crypto project, sparking a heated feud between the two content creators that has continued to this day.
Logan Paul’s CryptoZoo project promised that investors could grow, breed and trade unique animal NFTs.
In response to Coffee’s continued criticism of his crypto coin controversy, Logan filed a lawsuit against him for alleged defamation in summer 2024… and new developments in the suit have shed more light on their legal battle.
Logan Paul text messages exposed in Coffeezilla lawsuit
In spring 2025, text messages between Logan Paul and an unnamed friend were included in Coffeezilla’s Motion of Transfer and Stay filed on April 15, showing that the WWE heel wanted to punish Coffeezilla for daring to make critical videos about CryptoZoo.
The Motion alleges that Paul was using his defamation suit to “punish Coffeezilla, whom Paul perceives as his online nemesis, and make him a cautionary tale to other critics,” saying the messages about his lawsuit “explicitly confirm” this supposed motive.
“Lawyering up,” Paul wrote in the texts. “Suing this mfkr into the ground.”
Paul’s friend, however, advised caution: “Then everything will come out. Court docs public.”
“So everyone will see what happened, for better or for worse,” Paul retorted. “…I see the momentum building because the throne is being shook rn. Need to shut it down. …just to make his life difficult. Zilla will pay, one way or another.”
At the time of writing, Logan has not publicly responded to Coffeezilla’s Motion of Transfer and Stay, which is a legal request to the court to either pause the proceedings or transfer the hearing to a different location.
This is just the latest legal drama surrounding Logan Paul after his drink brand, Prime Hydration, was sued by a blind man who argued that its website is inaccessible to people with visual impairments.
