YouTube icon MrBeast is tossing out one of his wildest video ideas yet — and some of the net’s biggest stars are weighing in as the concept goes viral online.
On April 24, a tweet from a user named ‘DreamChasinMike’ started taking over social media, asking the question: What would happen if 100 people fought a gorilla?
“I think 100 ***** could beat one gorilla everybody, just gotta be dedicated to the sh*t,” he joked.
As of April 28, the post has been viewed a staggering 233 million times as users debate whether or not one hundred humans could successfully defeat a gorilla in hand-to-hand combat.
MrBeast jokingly calls for 100 volunteers to test ‘man vs gorilla’ meme
The tweet went so viral that it caught the attention of Jimmy ‘MrBeast‘ Donaldson, who is now debating on whether or not this would make a fitting addition to his over-the-top challenge videos.
A few days later, MrBeast posted a thumbnail concept of the experiment, which showed the YouTuber grinning against an AI-generated image of a gorilla walking toward a horde of shirtless men.
“Need 100 men to test this, any volunteers?” he wrote.
Donaldson’s post also garnered quite a bit of attention, even earning a reply from fellow influencer IShowSpeed, who responded with a hilarious copypasta.
“Only 99 more,” MrBeast joked.
While his tweet was clearly a joke, some netizens are debating the ethics of the supposed experiment, with one writing: “Wouldn’t that qualify as animal cruelty though? Testing 100 men against a gorilla, even hypothetically, sounds like putting the animal in unnecessary danger and stress.”
Still, others are tossing their favorite YouTubers into the hat, with fans tagging the likes of Kai Cenat and NICKMERCS in the hopes that they’ll respond.
MrBeast has proven his dedication to absurd challenges time and again in his career as YouTube’s most-subscribed content creator. For instance, he filmed himself in an underground coffin for seven days straight — and in his latest video, literally chained a man to a massive boulder in the middle of the ocean for $500,000.
