Ella Langley is the most popular female artist in country music today. There are many legends who came before her but none are as big as the 25-year-old right now, in this current second.
However, she looks (and sounds!) completely different in 2025 than she did in her first-ever music video eight years ago, which has gone extremely viral in recent days.
Langley, who currently resides in Nashville, grew up in Hope Hull, Alabama. It is a relatively small town just outside of Montgomery with a population of approximately 8,000 people. Her early exposure to music came through the local Baptist churches and informal jam sessions around town. She gave her first public performance at her high school talent show in 2016.
It was at that point that Ella Langley started to really pursue country music and started to book gigs. And then, in 2017, she co-wrote her first song with her aunt.
The music video for ‘Clear the Clouds’ was released through Jamison Ashley Films on Aug 18, 2017. This is the video that set the internet on fire in recent days. Take a look:
If you did not know that is Langley, you legitimately would not know that is Langley. Almost eight years younger, it looks nothing like the hard-edged, bang-wearing rock and roll cowgirl we know today.
Her voice is practically indiscernible outside of a slight twang during the chorus. But even then… If I were to close my eyes and listen to ‘Clear the Clouds,’ I would not guess that it is performed by Ella Langley if you gave me 100 guesses without a hint. No shot!
It’s a night and day difference between 2017 and 2025.
We all had our “glow-up” at some point between high school and our mid-to-late 20s. I look completely different at 25 than I did at 17. That is especially true for musicians as they grow in the industry and learn what works vs. what doesn’t. Miss Langley’s transformation is nothing out of the ordinary. Still, I am blown away!
