Valkyrae is urging Twitch to make a change to its TOS to make her streams better and avoid a potential ban.
Rachell ‘Valkyrae’ Hofstetter was the third most-watched female streamer for Q1 2025, falling behind VTubers Pekora and Miko who are in a league of their own stats-wise.
Responding to the bronze medal placing for 2025 so far, Valkyrae had some positive things to say about multi-streaming on both Twitch and YouTube, but noted a big issue she has with the purple platform specifically.
According to Hofstetter, Twitch’s rules put a damper on multi-streaming in a big way, because it drastically affects how quality of her VODs.
Valkyrae wants Twitch to allow YouTube chat
In a post on X, the 100 Thieves co-owner explained that she likes showing chat on her stream for viewers who watch her VODs, but Twitch won’t let any chat but their own appear on screen.
“It’s against Twitch TOS to show YouTube chat and it’s not against YouTube TOS to show Twitch chat.. so I can only show Twitch chat on screen,” she noted. “I read both chats but my YouTube chat will forever continue to complain and question if I ever read them lol.. would be super convenient if I could show both chats combined in OBS.”
Twitch’s Simulcasting Guidelines state that streamers must not “use third-party services that combine activity from other platforms or services on your Twitch stream during your Simulcast, such as merging chat or other features.”
Hofstetter further added that she believes Twitch has the superior chat experience, while YouTube’s viewing experience is better overall.
Shortly after, Valkyrae revealed she found a way to make it so her YouTube multi-stream would see both chats, but users still agreed that she should be able to show both on Twitch as well.
Agreed, I’ve recently started multi-streaming and it’s been awesome but because of the VOD chat rule I don’t even read my YT chat. I just have a perma pinned comment on YT saying please come to twitch to chat which I know is definitely not optimal. Hope this gets changed!

“I hope this tweet helps make some changes! I can’t wait for the day where multistream chat is combined for everything,” echoed Twitch streamer Noko.
Valkyrae is very experienced on both platforms, having been exclusive to YouTube for five years before opting to return to Twitch and multi-stream.
The streamer said that YouTube’s focus on videos ultimately resulted in her decision. Additionally, numerous changes she had requested on the streaming side of the Google-owned platform weren’t made over the five years she was there.
