Home Depot Is Opening New Stores This Year — Best Life

The economy has businesses everywhere in a tizzy. While some are downsizing and experiencing low profit margins due to hyperinflation, others are increasing their prices to help offset rising tariffs. Then there’s Home Depot and Lowe’s, which are at war with each other. The battle is ongoing as Lowe’s just unveiled its acquisition of ADG on the heels of Home Depot’s new store announcement. Here’s where the two retailers now stand.

Home Depot is opening 11 new locations this year.

“There’s no place like Home Depot—now, there are even more of them,” the company teased in a press release, announcing its expansion plans for 2025.

Home Depot has opened more than 20 locations nationwide since 2023. This year the retailer plans to add 11 stores to its fleet, one of which will be a grand reopening for a remodeled existing storefront. The company said its steady growth has created “thousands of jobs for local communities.”

“We’re selective about choosing the right location for our stores because we’re committed to the communities where we live and work. Whether it’s helping you plan your kitchen remodel or rebuilding once disasters strike, The Home Depot is here for the long haul,” the company said.

Although Home Depot hasn’t released the full list of store addresses yet, we do know which cities will be getting a new Home Depot in 2025.

Lowe’s just acquired this popular interior design and installation firm.

Lowe’s also recently shared exciting company expansion news, but of a different caliber. The home improvement retailer is adding a new subsidiary business to its portfolio: Artisan Design Group (ADG). Lowe’s has acquired ADG for $1.325 billion in an all-cash deal, according to a press release.

ADG is a nationwide provider of design, procurement, and installation services with a focus on flooring, cabinets, and countertops. Since 2016, ADG has acquired 20 companies and operates over 150 distribution, design, and service facilities in 25 states, per its website.

Lowe’s president and CEO Marvin R. Ellison said the acquisition will set the company up to “expand our total addressable market by approximately $50 billion.”

“With its strong, customer-centric operating model, ADG has become an industry leader with best-in-class customer satisfaction scores from the top builders in the U.S. We look forward to welcoming the ADG team to Lowe’s, and, through our combined capabilities, enhancing our offering to our expanded Pro customer base,” Ellison said.

On a similar note, ADG CEO Steve Margolius said joining forces with Lowe’s will allow ADG “to continue on our growth trajectory while providing an even more differentiated and comprehensive offering to the builders and property managers we serve today.”

The transaction is expected to be finalized in the second quarter of 2025.
