STEP by Step child star Josh Byrne has been spotted for the first time in nearly 30 years after a grocery run in Los Angeles.
The former actor, now 41, picked up snacks including Pop-Tarts and Cheetos on April 18, as he leads a normal life out of the spotlight in the southern California suburbs.

Josh wore a black shirt, jeans and a hoodie while he ran errands, and his salt-and-pepper hair and beard were on display.
The star became famous as the adorable Brendan, the youngest son in the blended family of Carol Foster and Frank Lambert, played by the late Suzanne Somers and Patrick Duffy.
Step By Step ran for seven seasons from 1991 until 1998, and was a staple on ABC’s TGIF lineup until it was moved to CBS for its last season. (Josh left the show after the sixth season.)
While some of his co-stars continued acting, Josh left Hollywood completely after his role on the wholesome sitcom.
Though he rarely speaks out, he did talk to his onscreen sisters Christine Lakin and Staci Keanan for their podcast earlier this year.
He said he left the film and TV industries after getting into “nerd things.”
“They always had a bunch of the comics on set, like comic books and stuff,” he said on the Keanan and Lakin Give You Déjà Vu podcast in January. “When they had the boys’ room, they had the nerd stuff…So I got into that pretty heavy.”
He said Sasha Mitchell, who played cousin Cody on the show, especially turned him on to comics.
“He got me into a few different characters, which led me to Deadpool,” he said.
“He very much was the cool uncle. He very much was that. I think we got very fortunate with the cast of how tight of a family we got.
“And, yeah, Patrick Duffy shaped a lot of my adult humor and a lot of, for better or for worse, my wife can vouch for that.”
Josh now works for action figure company Sideshow Collectibles.
DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS
While Josh decided to lead a more low-key life away from Hollywood, Christine kept acting, starring opposite Paris Hilton in The Hottie and the Nottie and Melissa and Joey.
She then became a podcaster and director for shows like The Goldbergs and High School Musical: The Series.
Before hosting a podcast with Christine, Staci worked as a lawyer.
Josh’s TV brother Brandon Call, who played teen J.T., now works as a real estate agent, though he recently made an appearance at 90s Con last year.
Sasha made a name for himself as a martial artist.
Josh’s onscreen dad Patrick continued acting, and famously returned to his 80s hit Dallas in the reboot, which lasted for three seasons.
Suzanne tragically died of breast cancer in 2023 after a long career in Hollywood and the wellness industry.
