Preston Woolsey has released ‘your combination,’ the second single from his forthcoming debut album bubba, out May 30th on Brooklyn-based label Rose Garden.
‘your combination’ is a quietly devastating piece that finds Woolsey cradling loss in a cocoon of gratitude. The song emerges from the grief of losing his childhood dog Boudreaux, whose presence had been a constant throughout some of the most turbulent chapters of Woolsey’s life — from cross-country moves and dropping out of college, to joining the Air Force.
Woolsey says:
“Nobody has been, can be, or will ever have the same relationship with me that I had with my dog,” adding that the song is “inspired by the feeling of waking up and seeing him at the foot of my bed.”
‘your combination’ is a beautifully restrained piece that honors the depth of a bond often overlooked in its importance — a love that asked for nothing, but gave everything. Woolsey’s debut album arrives May 30th.
