Valkyrae confirms she was cut from Minecraft Movie as Jason Momoa criticism resurfaces

Twitch streamer Rachell ‘Valkyrae’ Hofstetter’s anticipated cameo in A Minecraft Movie was notably absent when the film released on April 4, 2025, sparking speculation about what led to her being cut. She has now addressed her exclusion.

A Minecraft Movie features a star-studded cast including Jason Momoa and Jack Black. It’s also been a box-office hit, despite its very mixed reviews.

However, Valkyrae’s omission has raised questions, especially given her previous statements about on-set experiences.

In a September 2024 interview on Jasontheween’s show, Valkyrae recounted an incident during the film’s production where she alleged that Jason Momoa mistreated crew members.

She stated: “I just saw him, like, mistreat some of the crew, and it was pretty disappointing.”

She elaborated that this occurred after an intense scene, suggesting Momoa might have still been immersed in his character. Nonetheless, she expressed discomfort with the environment, noting:

“I was like, man, this is not a good work environment. I would not be happy working under these conditions.”

Valkyrae speaks out about Minecraft Movie cameo

On her April 6 stream, Valkyrae confirmed that her cameo was cut, and implied there were legal complications, as she would rather not “be sued.”

“As for the Minecraft Movie, let’s just say I’m not gonna touch too much on it,” she said. “But as much as you guys saw the other creators that were in it, would have been the equal amount you saw me in it which is 30 seconds. So it’s okay. I would much rather not have 30 seconds than be sued.”

Despite this, it is still possible to spot Valkyrae in the background of one scene, as eagle-eyed fans on Reddit highlighted.

Following the film’s release and Valkyrae’s absence from the final cut, most speculated that her comments about Momoa are the likely cause of her being removed from the final version.

“She kinda did this to herself ngl. She basically gave the film bad press and likely broke an NDA by saying she was in the film before the 5 cameos.”

Others defended her, suggesting that her observations were valid and that she was merely sharing her personal experiences.

At the time of writing, neither Valkyrae nor the film’s production team have commented publicly regarding her absence from the movie.

While Valkryae didn’t get her spot in the movie, other popular YouTubers did, including DanTDM, Mambo Jumbo and LDShadowLady.
