Tool’s set at Lollapalooza Argentina on Saturday (March 22nd) was livestreamed, marking a rare occasion that the band let one of its full concerts be broadcast on TV or the internet. However, the veteran alt-metal act didn’t allow any close-ups of the performance, only wide angle shots from a good distance away from the stage.
The Buenos Aires concert was streamed via Flow, an Argentinian cable television and internet company, as part of a full slate of streaming performances from Lollapalooza Argentina. While it doesn’t appear that the stream was archived, rips of Tool’s set are popping up on YouTube.

Tool played a nine-song set, including four tunes from 2006’s 10,000 Days. Amazingly, the gig marked the band’s first ever concert in South America, kicking off a run of shows that also includes Lollapalooza festival in Chile and Brazil.

As well documented, frontman Maynard James Keenan and company have a staunch no-filming policy at Tool concerts, with security removing fans who dare take out their smartphones to film the show.
Tool recently received some backlash for their performances at their own Tool in the Sand festival in the Dominican Republic, where they played two shows over two nights. During the second concert, the band repeated four songs from the first night, leading some upset attendees to question whether they were “two unique sets,” as promised.
Next month, Keenan will hit the road with his bands A Perfect Circle and Pusicifer as part of the “Sessanta V2.0” tour with Primus. Tickets for the North American outing are available here.
