A VTuber claims that Ubisoft’s confusion about when she could start streaming Assassin’s Creed Shadows resulted in her being banned on Twitch.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is set to arrive on March 20, but content creators were allowed to play the game early… just not too early, as one VTuber found out.
On March 18, VTuber Olivia Monroe was all set for her sponsored Assassin’s Creed Shadows stream, but was unexpectedly banned less than an hour into her broadcast.
According to Monroe, the problem wasn’t even her fault; it was Ubisoft’s.

Shortly after she started playing, Monroe was banned from the Amazon-owned platform.
At first, fans were absolutely baffled by this sudden suspension, but as the VTuber would soon discover, Ubisoft had a mix-up with her stream’s start time.
In a post on her Discord, Monroe explained: “Ubisoft approved my time because they read it as 7PM not 7AM.”
Monroe was unbanned shortly thereafter and elaborated on the situation the following day.
“Everything was approved, as you know, I’m a morning streamer. So, imagine my surprise when I go live and then I am banned. So I’m like, ‘huh, that’s interesting, because everything was approved!’ So, sure enough, I look over at my email five minutes before I was banned, and I got an email saying I’m in breach of embargo, which I had no idea about, because my time was approved.”
According to Monroe, Ubisoft misread her stream time by a full 12 hours, resulting in her suspension.
“I had to work to get [the ban] reversed and it was reversed. So, we’re back.”
Of all the ways to get banned, this is certainly one of the most innocent mistakes, especially when it came down to a mishap on the developer’s end.
The long-awaited journey to feudal Japan in Assassin’s Creed has been a long time coming, but the entry has not been without controversy in regards to historical inaccuracies and the game’s samurai protagonist Yasuke.
The drama has been so intense, that even the Japanese Prime Minster addressed AC Shadows’ depiction of vandalism, particularly those involving religious sites.
Despite this, the game has been receiving relatively strong reviews. We at Dexerto gave it a 4 out of 5 and called it the best AC game since Black Flag.
